Recording - a natural progression

As a natural progression from writing her own songs, Teresa wanted to record, playback and re-mix her material. Using her father’s connections as a sound engineer Teresa started off using whatever was available in her Dad’s workshop. This ranged from cassette recorders and reel to reel tapes, through to hard disc recorders and ultimately computers. She used all of these to good effect in recording her material. She was inspired by, and learnt from her father and became familiar with recording techniques, mixing desks and equipment used in both studio and live environments.

As technology progressed, so did Teresa; switching over to her first computer with a then state of the art SoundBlaster card. She learned and mastered software packages such as Cubase and Sibelius and ultimately Reason, Pro Tools and Logic. She built a home studio using a bespoke PC running Pro Tools LE with a Digi 002, expanding and customising the set up to maximise the functionality of the system. This system has been further expanded with the addition of a MacBook and Mbox running Pro Tools and Logic Pro to provide a more portable recording option.

Teresa has worked at various London studios such as Abbott Street, Moon and Creekside using a range of different systems from a fully digital Pro tools HD system to analogue desks recording onto 24 track tape.

As an engineer Teresa puts artists at ease with her understanding of their songs. She inspires confidence, getting the most from them and then uses her skills, knowledge and passion to really bring the song to life, far exceeding the artiste’s expectations.

Teresa has attended Pro Tools training courses at Alchemea, giving her the ability and qualifications to teach this package to others. Teresa also has extensive knowledge of music technology, having taught this subject to B-Tech, ‘A’ level as well as through private tuition.

Teresa’s current portfolio includes the recording and producing of demos, EP’s and show-reels.
