A talented songwriter
Teresa’s musical journey began at an early age. Growing up in Rome with its history and culture, she was surrounded by music; her father worked as a sound engineer and her mother as a dancer in theatre. At seven, inspired by her Aunt Dot, Teresa picked up her first guitar and taught herself to play.
At sixteen, Teresa packed her bags and left her sleepy village in Dorset behind, heading for the sights and sounds of London, to attend the Brit School of Performing Arts. Here she could satisfy her musical desires, wanting, as she did, to do anything which was in any way related to music. She learned to play drums and keyboards, and, in the process, extended her technique with guitar and bass. She wrote and performed her own material and formed her first band, the “Happy Zucchinis'” within hours of arrival.
She ‘did’ the London circuit (places like 93 Feet East, the infamous Half Moon in Putney, the Bull & Gate etc) as a soloist and in various bands (ranging from covers to original fusion bands); as a front-person, guitarist, bassist or drummer (or as combinations of these!). She took on any work so that she could to pay her way through college; from making coffee and bagels in Soho to working in café’s, restaurants and chip shops (destroying virtually every dishwasher she encountered on her way)! So keen was she to play any gig, that she would hitch hike for hours with a guitar and amp in tow to get to the venue. She would go from college to gigs to work to gigs and back to college in a frenzied rock’n’roll lifestyle.
Her guitar is one of her best friends and her songs are written from the heart; dealing with life’s experiences; friendship, love, loss and even her dog. They are full of emotion, funny or sad, inspiring or thought provoking, and tell short stories of events and people in her life.
